GBV
Gender Based Violence (GBV) and harmful practices such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) remain significant challenges affecting women and girls in many communities. These practices violate human rights, limit opportunities, and undermine the dignity, health, and well-being of vulnerable groups.
CECOME is dedicated to advancing gender equality and ending Gender Based Violence (GBV), with a strong focus on eradicating Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
We promote awareness through edutainment, creative advocacy, and community dialogue, creating safe spaces where communities can openly address harmful practices and embrace positive change.
Our work is community-centered, engaging teachers and learners, community groups, religious leaders, local administration, and media partners as key change agents in shifting attitudes and strengthening protection systems.
- Alternative Rites of Passage (ARP): Offering girls culturally significant teachings without the cut, conducted during April and August school holidays, with a graduation ceremony in December
- Community sensitization forums and dialogues
- Creative advocacy through edutainment
- Media engagement through radio, TV, and Facebook live programs
- Commemorating international and national calendar days in collaboration with partners.
Through sustained community engagement and collaboration, CECOME has contributed to increased awareness, reduced acceptance of harmful practices, and stronger community commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of women and girls.
More communities are embracing safer alternatives, and more girls are able to grow in dignity, free from violence and harmful practices.
As we invest to prevent violence, we factor in our programs better ways to educate and empower the community like CHVs and Religious leaders Involvement. Let us unite and protect our community against and all forms of violence.
