The international women’s day, though taken to be a day to celebrate the special women in each one’s life, it’s a day to reflect deeply on the social, economical and political inequalities perpetuated on women by the society through ages and times.
With local men and women at Enchoro Kisii county, we held a session to reflect on the plight of women and girls in the community.
Marani, being the leading sub-county under which Kegogi location falls is the leading in teenage pregnancy as per reliable statistics. The Assistant County Commissioner Stella Murage, in attendance expressed her displeasure in the people’s will to report and witness as well as testify on the defilement and rape cases on the rise in the sub-county.
The sub-county education officer Simon Lodiongole condemned the rising teenage pregnancy especially in the area primary schools and promised coordinated action on the same.

Finance Economy Always High Rate Growth
The men and women, regretted their laxity to report and share on the same. Men stood ground in commit to support women achieve their own goals and offer them the long desired freedom to access, control and make decisions over property, children and self. Women of goodwill to the empowerment journey stood to give testimonies of their experience in abusive marriages and their way to marital freedom.
The day ended with praises and encouragement from the Executive Director Cecome to the outstanding women in the community who have overcome the societal expectations to make a desirable life for themselve
The three outstanding women who have survived violence and neglect out of poverty and widowhood were awarded substantially by the M&E officer and donor’s representative (International Solidarity Foundation) Mary Momanyi Ndubi.
